About Us

On כ”ב אייר תש”פ, our world became a darker place when a soul whose primary languages were those of love and kindness was taken from us. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Avi Gordon z”l, was many things. He was a pillar of honesty, gentility, and warmth; a true gentleman who never had to raise his voice to be heard; a master of human connection. Few were those who met him and did not love him, and even fewer were those who left an encounter with him not feeling loved and appreciated. His gentle nature, tender heart, and kind word consistently left those around him feeling valued and adored.

However, what often set him apart was his hallmark trait of defending the vulnerable. The ache of those suffering burdened him as evidenced by the wrinkled, tear-laden pages of his Tehillim, adorned with Post-it notes filled with names feverishly scribbled all over them. This was combined with an uncanny ability to make those in even the most desperate of circumstances seek hope.

It therefore seems appropriate to honor the memory of this sensitive soul, who constantly defended the underdog, by creating a forum to help young boys whose life circumstances have made emerging adulthood even more difficult than that of their peers, by providing them the ability to connect to their Creator, in whom we hope they will always seek hope and a brighter future, with a new pair of Mehudar Tefillin.
